Auto-Renewal Clause
Definition
An auto-renewal (evergreen) clause causes a contract to renew automatically for another term unless one party gives notice to cancel within a defined window.
Why it matters operationally
Auto-renewal turns inattention into commitment. Miss the notice window and you're locked in for another term — the recurring risk Contract Renewal Tracker exists to monitor.
Example
A SaaS contract renews for 12 months unless you give 60 days' notice before the renewal date.
Handle auto-renewal clause in a workflow
Monitor contract renewals before notice periods pass.
