Payee Name Mismatch
Definition
A discrepancy between the legal name on a W-9 and the name on file with the IRS or in your vendor master.
Why it matters operationally
Name mismatches are a leading cause of B-notices and 1099 corrections. Catching them before payment protects filing accuracy.
