Disregarded Entity
Definition
An LLC with a single owner that the IRS treats as part of the owner for tax purposes, not as a separate entity.
Why it matters operationally
Disregarded entities report on the owner's TIN, not the LLC's EIN. Wrong classification on the W-9 breaks 1099 reporting.
